Laganas the most popular resort of Zakynthos and certainly the most developed area of the island.

The beach of Lagana is located on the south side of the island, protected from Northen winds, and has very shallow waters, ideal for children, with clean sand without pebbles and rocks. It is famed for its length (six kilometers) and for the Caretta-Caretta sea turtles that lay their eggs on the beach each summer, for this reason the whole Bay of Lagana is protected by the National Marine Park of Zakynthos.

HOW TO GET HERE
You can visit the island by air or by road via the harbour of Killini and then take a ferry to Zakynthos on one of the frequent crossings.

During the summer months there are daily crossings from the Harbour of Agios Nicholas in Volimes, Zakynthos, to the Harbour of Pessada in Kefalonia.

Visitors can experience and explore the islands natural beauty in a variety of ways.

The “KTE Λ ” buses have a daily service during the summer months, starting in Zakynthos Town, with many routes to the island's villages. Apart from the regular bus service, there are island tours by coach with frequent stops in many picturesque villages.

There are a number of excursions organized by various tour companies around the island.

There are car rental offices in most areas, where you can hire cars, motorbikes and bicycles, essential for exploring beaches and villages.

Daily cruises, mainly from Zakynthos Town Harbour, provide the opportunity to see the secluded beaches at Shipwreck Bay, the Blue Caves etc.

Small boats are also available for hire at many beaches.
